Rocky's Medical Fund
Along the coast of Texas, in a small town called Seadrift, there is a local Vietnamese restaurant owned and operated by Thach (Rocky) Le and his wife Phuong (Lisa), both Vietnamese-American immigrants whose Vietnamese cuisine and hospitality is legendary in the small fishing community. Residents of Seadrift and multitudes of visiting fisherman would regular Rocky's Noodle House for a taste of Rocky's famous egg rolls, Pho, and charismatic spirit. Rocky is a well known pillar of the community. On Sunday, Rocky would play his guitar and sing praises in Vietnamese following communion. In the evenings, if you were in the area of 13th Street and West Saint Louis, you would hear the seranades of Vietnamese music and laughter from guests entertained by first-class hospitality on Rocky's patio.
On the evening of January 7th, 2017 all this would change. While at home, Rocky suffered a severe hemorrhagic brain stem stroke. Without health insurance and the restaurant being his family's only source of income, the stroke has changed the lives of Rocky, Lisa, and his daughter Christina forever. As this is written, almost 2 months later, Rocky is still in the hospital, received multiple surgeries and faces months of intense physical therapy, learning simple tasks such as sitting and brushing his teeth, countless hospital stays, doctor's bills and even more surgeries.
This account is created to help defer the high costs of medical treatment and basic life necessities such as food, water and electricity for the family until Social Security assistance can be setup to defer the costs of being without any source of income.
Rocky, Lisa, and their daughter Christina are well known in the community not just for their famous family operated restraunt but also amongst neighbors and tourists for their friendliness, good food, and incredible hospitality. This account is setup to return the generosity and benevolence back to the family who gives so much.
